Youth Leaders

The Youth Leaders phase equips young members with the confidence and skills required to enter and progress within the workforce and reach their professional and personal goals.

Applicants are Indigenous youths aged 18 to 24 with cultural ties to Cape York, Palm Island and Yarrabah who are looking to gain employment or progress within their current job.

Purpose: This phase aims to support young members’ contribution to and success within the economy by building their confidence and interpersonal skills as well as providing them with base managerial and governance tools. These skills will also allow them to grow as leaders within their families and communities.

Features: Members attend workshops facilitated by credible local and international leaders and receive on-going one-on-one support from the Cape York Leaders Program Staff.

Duration: 2 - 4 years

Phase progression: Graduates may apply for the Academic, Skilling or Leader phase.
