DR COLIN RUBENSTEIN

Dr Colin Rubenstein AM was a senior lecturer in politics specialising in Middle East and Public Policy areas at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia from 1975 – 1998.

He has an M.A. from the University of Melbourne and a Ph.D from Columbia University, New York, USA in 1973.

Since January 1999 he has been the full-time Executive Director of the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) where he has been Editorial Chairman since 1982.  AIJAC is the Australian Jewish community’s leading public affairs organisation, which publishes The Review and contributes to informed discussion about the Middle East and implications for Australia and Asia.

From 1997 - 1999 he has been a member of the Federal Government’s National Multicultural Advisory Council and since July 2000 a member of the Federal Government’s Council for Multicultural Australia.  Since 2001 he has been a member of the Board of the National Library.

This year,  Colin was appointed a member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his service to the community through executive roles with a range of Jewish organizations, to the advancement and promotion of multiculturalism and to the academic  discipline of political science.

He has lectured internationally on global affairs, and is a frequent commentator in the Australian media.
