John is descended from the Kabi Kabi group from southeast Queensland. He has been a construction worker, Aboriginal Health worker, university Lecturer and media producer and has worked with Indigenous people on location from Brisbane to the Torres Strait Islands. He currently administers the Higher Expectations Program from CYI in Cairns (more information can be found here).
John believes that 50,000 years of survival in the harshest country in the world gives indigenous Australians great confidence for adapting, prospering and leading Australia into its rich multicultural future. John also has a degree in Aboriginal Studies with Literature (with Distinction) from Central Queensland University, Rockhampton. “We have survived. We have adapted. We will lead!”....
