MS. TANIA MAJOR

Tania Major is a Kokoberra woman from Kowanyama, Cape York. She has completed a degree in Criminology from Griffith University. At 21 she became the youngest elected regional councillor in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC).
Tania is actively involved and passionate about Youth affairs in Cape York. Her goal as a youth development worker “is to instil new thinking and attitudes and behaviours to promote positive leadership, by creating a new generation of young leaders who empower themselves and who can collaborate to drive social change and have the skills and capabilities to act on behalf of the greater good’.
Tania was recently named as the 2007 Young Australian of the Year.
